Bright light in the sky over Virginia was identified

WRIC 8 News reported on Tuesday morning, September 10, 2024 that many Virginia residents were puzzled when they saw an object hurling through the sky.

The hurling object identified

The hurling object was not a comet or a plane. It was the launch of SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket for its Polaris Dawn mission from Florida, according to the Associated Press.

Multiple people are aboard the rocket, including tech entrepreneur and billionaire Jared Isaacman, a pair of SpaceX engineers, and a former Air Force Thunderbirds pilot.

AP further reported that the group aims to carry out the first private spacewalk and go further than anyone since NASA’s Apollo moon shots. The spacewalk is scheduled for Thursday, September 12, halfway through the five-day flight.

Virginia viewers shared photos of the SpaceX rocket online. One viewer said:

"That picture is SpaceX. It looks like that every time, and every time people freak out about it."
