Visiting an area farm to get lost among the cornstalks and take a wagon ride to a pumpkin patch is an annual tradition for many families.

And fall’s imminent arrival means area farms are putting the finishing touches on their 2024 corn mazes and pumpkin patches.

Those looking to pick out the perfect pumpkin and get lost among the cornstalks need only wait until the last weekend of this month for a “corny” adventure at La Union Maze and Mesilla Valley Maze, according to their respective websites. El Paso’s Corn Maze has set an October opening date.

La Union Maze in La Union, New Mexico opens the weekend of September 27 - 29. After that, you can get lost among the corn stalks Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through November 3.

The 2024 season marks its 25th Anniversary “of picking pumpkins and getting lost.” In fact, this year’s 13-acre maze design will pay homage to its quarter-century of twists and turns. Along with the outline of pumpkins, the design also features farm animals and sunflowers.

Opening weekend for Mesilla Valley Maze in Las Cruces is Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, Sunday, September 29. After that it will be Saturdays and Sundays through October 27.

Besides the corn maze and pumpkin patch, there will be a flower field and kid-friendly activities including hayrides, a cow train, pedal cars, slides, and a tire pyramid to climb on.

Special events this season include a Fall Festival and Pumpkin Festival. Each takes place in October and both are at no additional charge.

Beginning October 5 there will be a closer option opening for El Pasoans who live in Eastlake and the Far East who don’t want to make the trek to New Mexico where the other two area corn mazes are located.

Located on Nuevo Hueco Tanks Road, El Paso's Corn Maze features a 10-acre corn maze. Like its Southern New Mexico counterparts, the farm also features kid-friendly activities like pony rides, pedal carts and more.

Those looking to pick out a pumpkin or two to decorate their home with, or carve up for Halloween can take a train ride to Patsy’s Pumpkin Patch to pick out the perfect gourd.
