Florida State has been among the most disappointing teams in the nation thus far, and now Mike Norvell's squad will step out of conference play against Memphis during the Week 3 college football schedule. It's a personal matchup for Norvell, who coached the Tigers from 2016-19. The latest Week 3 college football odds via SportsLine consensus list the Seminoles as 6.5-point favorites in a game they need to win to keep the season from completely going off the rails.

Meanwhile in the SEC, conference play heats up with intriguing matchups such as No. 1 Georgia vs. Kentucky (+24.5), Texas A&M vs. Florida (+3.5) and No. 16 LSU vs. South Carolina (+6.5). Before locking in any Week 3 college football picks on those games or others, be sure to see the college football betting guide from legendary Vegas handicapper Bruce Marshall .

With a background in play-by-play work and sports information while in college, Marshall joined TGS in 1981 when hired by the legendary Mort Olshan and served as executive editor for many years.

Top college football predictions for Week 3

One of the top college football picks Marshall is recommending for Week 3: He's backing Alabama (-16.5) against the spread as the Tide go on the road to take on Wisconsin. He also likes the Over 49.5 in that matchup as the total has dropped from 53.5.

Despite regularly facing lofty totals, Alabama is on a 13-4-1 Over run. Though it was a slow start against USF last week, Kalen DeBoer's squad hasn't slowed much on offense overall, still averaging 52.5 points per game this season thus far.

Alabama is hoping to get star left tackle Kadyn Proctor back this week, which should be a big boost in the Tide's chance to both cover and produce points that will contribute to the total. Marshall also notes that Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell is on a 9-18 ATS spread skid that dates back to his time at Cincinnati. See which other picks to make here .
