Welcome to the brave new world. Once relegated to movie theaters—then VHS tapes and DVDs—skiing content can now be consumed pretty much anywhere. On the loo, in the classroom (pay attention to your teacher, kids), at work—wherever we and our little pocket computers go, skiing comes with.

That’s a potentially fraught thing. I’d argue that skiing isn’t supposed to be viewed on a tiny screen in between reels purpose—made to make your brain rot. The ski movie is an art form. Quick clips aren’t usually. But the fact is, Mark Zuckerberg won, and if you’re not a Luddite, you’re probably consuming some amount of video content, skiing or otherwise, on Instagram.

The current digital media status quo doesn’t mean you have to suck down digital junk, though. Plenty of skiers—and ski-focused Instagram pages—focus on the good stuff. From weather forecasts to epic bails and useful avalanche information, these are the ski Instagram accounts you need to follow.

    10. Freeride World Tour

    Follow: @freerideworldtour

The Freeride World Tour is the biggest and best freeride competition in skiing. Since every stop of the Tour is recorded live, the competition circuit’s Instagram page is a treasure trove of top-notch freeride skiing reruns. Huge crashes and wild saves are all on tap here.

    9. The LINE Traveling Circus

    Follow: @linetravelingcircus

The LINE Traveling Circus is skiing’s longest-running webisode series. Helmed by icons (or jib ninjas) Will Wesson and Andy Parry, every episode of the Traveling Circus contains equal parts general shenanigans and on-snow action. Scraps from those episodes trickle out to the series’ Instagram page, making it worth a follow, but you should really dig into the Traveling Circus’ complete catalog if you haven’t already. There’s really nothing like it.

    8. Molly Armanino

    Follow: @mollyarmanino

When it comes to the big mountain gnar, Freeride World Tour caliber skier Molly Armanino doesn’t screw around. On her Instagram page, she blasts through pillow fields and snakes down narrow straight lines—we’re just along for the ride.

    7. Rocko Menzyk

    Follow: @rockomenzyk

Rocko Menzyk is a Salt Lake City, Utah, based photographer. With all the mountainous scenery around—and the ever-brimming talent present in the local ski scene—he has his work cut out for him. When you put a talented photographer like Menzyk in SLC, the results are sure to blow minds.

    6. I-70 Things

    Follow: @i70things

This one’s technically region-specific, but I think every skier can relate to the hellacious ski commute. I-70 Things explores everything that goes wrong—or is otherwise hilarious—on I-70, the infamous highway that transports skiers from Denver, Colorado, to the mountains. Digital rubberneckers, start your engines.

    5. HOTLAPS

    Follow: @hotlapsofficial

Remember when I said that quick clips aren’t usually an art form? There are exceptions to every rule, and HOTLAPS, by Andrew Gayda, proves it. HOTLAPS links up with skiing’s best to produce follow-cam footage that’ll get your neurons firing.

    4. Juho Saastamoinen

    Follow: @baconjuhis

Juho Saastamoinen, or @baconjuhis, as he’s known on Instagram, probably could make a living as an acrobat in Cirque du Soleil—his air awareness is something else. That stellar proprioception allows him to concoct wacky, terrifying tricks like his backflip to back full. Or whatever you call this. And the action doesn’t stop in the winter. Once the snow melts, Saastamoinen starts chucking himself on trampolines or into the nearest bodies of water.

    3. Powderchasers

    Follow: @powderchasers

If you want to stay abreast of whatever the atmosphere is doing, Powderchasers is the place to go. They’re much more than a social media page—they issue forecasts and run a powder-chasing concierge service—but their Instagram is a great place to start for snow-hungry skiers.

    2. Utah Avalanche Center

    Follow: @utavy

The Utah Avalanche Center oversees avalanche forecasting for the Beehive State. On Instagram, they provide deep dives into the current state of the snowpack, offering up valuable tidbits that make understanding snow science wizardry a little bit easier.

    1. The Ski Monster

    Follow: @theskimonster

Speaking of informational content, The Ski Monster, an East Coast-based ski shop, has it dialed in. They address the specifics of gear, addressing common questions like: Why do my heels lift up in my ski boots? Or—what’s the deal with those fancy BOA buckles that are everywhere these days? The world of ski gear can be indecipherable, but The Ski Monster makes it less so.
