Ex Steeler Ben Roethlisberger Reveals His Pick for Starting QB

With Justin Fields getting the start for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, the quarterback controversy continues. Veteran Russell Wilson is dealing with a lingering calf injury, and was unable to play against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fields led the Steelers to an 18-10 win over the Falcons in Atlanta. While he wasn’t dazzling, he did make a few plays that flew off the screen. He didn’t throw a touchdown pass, but he led them into scoring range on seven drives.

This only adds to the controversy, but Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger chimed in on the latest episode of his podcast “Footbahlin”.

"If Russell Wilson is healthy... I think it goes back to Russ," Big Ben said. "Russ is your starter. Now, if you're telling me they've won four or five games and then now Russ is healthy, maybe you kind of pause. But your plan is still nothing different. Russ is your starter."

The big question this week is will Wilson be able to go? Coach Mike Tomlin told everyone to ask him again on Tuesday who the starter will be against the Denver Broncos this week, so hopefully we get some insight.

On one hand, Fields played reasonably well and didn’t turn the ball over. On the other hand, Wilson will be itching to play and stick it to his former coach and former team in their house.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET.
