Steelers Make Final Call on Starting Quarterback for Week 2

The Pittsburgh Steelers' situation at quarterback will look similar in Week 2. Former Bears starter Justin Fields will lead the offense against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Fields battled with veteran Russell Wilson for the starting job in the offseason. Wilson, who starred for the Seattle Seahawks and Broncos before signing a $1.2 million deal in the spring, entered last week's game against the Atlanta Falcons with a calf injury. Fields took the helm as a result and helped Pittsburgh to an 18-10 win in Atlanta.

It was certainly an odd game for the Steelers offense, which didn't score a single touchdown in the eight-point win. Fields completed 17-of-23 passes for 156 yards. He also rushed 14 times for 57 yards. Chris Boswell connected on all six of his field goal attempts.

Wilson was named the starter in the preseason but it's unclear if he will take the helm when medically cleared. If last week's offensive performance tells us anything, though, it's that Pittsburgh could use some firepower to stretch the field. Wilson could help in that facet, as the Super Bowl winner averages nearly 80 more yards per game passing than Fields.

Kickoff against Denver (0-1) is set for 4:25 p.m. ET in Mile High Stadium (CBS).
