Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings suffered an ankle injury on a controversial play in the San Francisco 49ers' win against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.

Jennings, who signed an extension with the 49ers during the offseason, suffered the injury on what appeared to be a hip-drop tackle, a play that was banned by the NFL back in March.

Surprisingly, no flag was thrown on the play that caused Jennings' ankle injury despite appearing to be a textbook hip-drop tackle.

You can see Jennings' ankle get rolled up at the end of the play.

The former Vol exited the game due to the injury, but he was eventually able to return to action.

Jennings is extremely lucky that the injury wasn't worse. He should be fine and he isn't expected to miss any games due to the injury, but it's still something that could hamper him for a few weeks.

It should have been flagged . it goes to show that the refs hate the 49ers!

I watched the game and the 49ers always tackle like that and are never called for it because they pay the refs.
