Twenty malnourished animals were discovered and saved from the couple's home in Oxford, according to Super Talk News. The bodies of ten deceased dogs were also recovered from the home. The deceased animals are represented in each of the ten counts of animal cruelty Pegues received in her indictment.

Pegues was arrested and served the indictment by a grand jury on Monday. Pegues met her bond of $75,000, according to the Daily Mississippian.

Pegues has taken a voluntary leave of absence from her position at Ole Miss and continues to maintain her innocence in the matter. Her legal counsel made a statement requesting her privacy.

More information will be given as it is made available.
