That's not rain on the radar, it's a swarm of spotted lanternflies

The Pittsburgh area is in a long stretch of dry weather that could last through, at least, September 24 with only a 25 percent chance or lower, of rain during that time.

But if you looked on the radar Tuesday afternoon, you may have seen what appeared to be rain.

But the sun was out, so what gives?

The National Weather Service shared that it isn’t rain, it’s actually “a mix of insects mostly dominated by lanternflies.”

Taking a close look at the radar, you’ll be able to see the outline of Pittsburgh’s three rivers.

The spotted lanternfly infestation in the City of Pittsburgh hasn’t appeared to be as bad as last year, but there are still plenty of the flying pests around with other areas reporting heavier infestations compared to last year.
