Eight Vehicle Break-Ins in Lowndes County, Mississippi

The New Hope community in Lowndes county experienced a flurry of criminal activity in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 8th, 2024.

The activity took place in a subdivision near West Mill Road, Thurlow Road, and Phillips Hill Road, according to a press release from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to a call of vehicular break-ins in the community and, upon performing a canvas of the neighborhood, discovered eight unlocked vehicles had been broken into and belongings stolen. Several other cards were found with the doors open, though nothing was taken from those.

Surveillance camera footage from several homeowners was used by the deputies, in conjunction with other tactics, to track the suspects down and perform an arrest.

The suspects have been identified as Glenn Rose, Javarion Davis, McKenzie Harriston, and Delmonte Thomas.

Rose, Davis, Thomas, and Harriston were all charged with possession of stolen property, according to the press release.

Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins noted that the suspects merely walked around the subdivision trying vehicle door handles to find the unlocked cars. Hawkins urges the community to always lock vehicle doors and secure valuable possessions in order to avoid a similar situation.
