Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has been under fire the past couple of days following a report that alleged he wouldn't let Colorado's band play their fight song.

It was reported after the Colorado Buffaloes' Week 2 loss against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, that Sanders told the band not to play the school's fight song after passing touchdowns. The report revealed the reason for this being so Sanders' son/quarterback, Shedeur Sanders' song, could be played over the speaker at the stadium.

This led to the program releasing a statement clarifying what songs play after the team scores.

On Tuesday, Sanders took things into his own hands when talking to the media, as he opened with a statement about the matter.

“Whoever reported that I told the band not to play the fight song, that’s idiotic,” Sanders said . “Y’all know that. When you saw that, you know that was a lie. We got to start having some kind of accountability to this. I understand that this is a free and open world and that everybody is not a journalist, everybody’s not an analyst.

“Everybody really hasn’t put in a lot of the work to do what you all do. Thankful for many of you all to take your job and your craft serious, and consequently, you get facts before you run with false narratives. But please know that that stuff affects people [and] me. You’ve been attacking me my whole life, so I’m good. But other people that’s involved — band members, Buffs faithful and alumni and all that — sometimes they don’t know what to believe.”

As revealed in the statement by the program, the report alleged they only played the star quarterback's rap song, which doesn't tell the full story. According to the program, the stadium will play a "snippet" of Sanders' song "Perfect Timing" before the band plays "Glory, Glory, Colorado." After those two songs, the band then plays the fight song after the PAT.

Sanders and his Buffs squad lost their Week 2 meeting 28-10, and looked more like the 2023 team that struggled mightily in the trenches rather than the much-improved team we saw in Week 1.

Now that this music drama has been addressed, Sanders and company are likely looking to focus solely on in-state rival Colorado State. The two teams are set to face off in the "Rocky Mountain Showdown" on Saturday in a game that will be televised on CBS.

Last season, this game attracted 9.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched late-night college football game ever on ESPN . It also happened to go to double overtime and ended with the Buffs coming out on top.

According to ESPN , Sanders' squad are 7.5-point favorites and have a 80.8% chance of winning.
