    Former Penn State defenseman Palocsik signs with Walleye

    The Toledo Walleye have signed Tanner Palocsik, a defenseman who will start his pro career with the team.

    Palocsik played last season at Penn State University where he had 16 points in 36 games. Palocsik tallied two goals and 14 assists to go along with eight penalty minutes for the Nittany Lions.

    A native of Aliquippa, Pa., Palocsik also played four years at Dartmouth College. The 25-year-old produced 66 points (13 G, 53 A) and 44 penalty minutes in 93 games for the Big Green.

    Palocsik served as team captain for the 2022-23 season as a senior and served as an alternate captain in 2021-22 as a junior.

    The 5-foot-11 and 190-pound defenseman had 82 points (15 G, 67 A) and 52 penalty minutes in 129 college games.

    The Walleye open the season at the expansion Bloomington Bison on Saturday, Oct. 19. Toledo's home opener is on Friday, Nov. 1 against Wheeling.
