The Minnesota Golden Gophers four-star basketball recruit Amari Allen has made his decision and it won't be playing in maroon and gold.

Instead, the 2025 combo guard will be heading to Alabama, as he announced his official commitment on X on Tuesday.

Allen had Minnesota among his top six schools he was considering this summer . His other five schools were Alabama, Nevada, UCF, Mississippi State and Wisconsin.

According to 247Sports, the Kaukauna, Wis. native unofficially visited Minnesota earlier this summer and made an official visit on Aug. 29, the day of the Gophers' football season opener against North Carolina.

The 6-foot-7, 195-pound senior is ranked No. 52 nationally by Rivals, No. 53 by Prep Hoops and No. 98 by 247Sports' composite ranking.

His playmaking abilities and athleticism mirrors the same game former Gophers and current Los Angeles Clippers player Cam Christie brings to the court. Christie was taken in the second round of this year's NBA draft by the Clippers after playing his sole freshman season at the U of M.

As of Wednesday, the Gophers have one hard commit for the 2025 class in three-star Philadelphia senior Kai Shinholster, who committed on Sept. 4.

Last week, three-star guard Keaton Wagler from Kansas visited Minnesota and is expected to make his decision after he visits Illinois this weekend, according to 247Sports. Aside from Minnesota and Illinois, Wagler is also considering Colorado State, Drake, Murray State and Southern Illinois.
