Northern California is set for a shift in weather as an approaching upper trough brings much cooler temperatures, rain, and gusty winds. Inland areas will experience a sharp drop in daytime highs, falling 15 to 19 degrees by Wednesday. Coastal regions can expect patchy, dense fog this morning, with clearing later in the day.

The National Weather Service reports a high chance (72-93%) of light rain in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties on Wednesday, with some areas seeing up to a quarter inch of rainfall. Wind gusts up to 35 mph are likely, particularly in Mendocino and Lake Counties, raising fire weather concerns despite the increasing moisture.
