Klay Thompson recently talked about what it means to play for the love of the game and to ignore outside noise. After a summer of heartbreak, leaving the Golden State Warriors in a history-filled 13 seasons, Thompson has a lot of emotions stemming from the summer breakup.

It seems Thompson is in a healthy mental state, and the Dallas Mavericks will need him to clinch another NBA Finals berth.

"Don't let anyone take your joy. You'll play in a crazy era. Everyone has an opinion: your parents, your coaches, and internet trolls. Just ignores all that. Remember why you play this game and stay present. Surrender the outcome," Thompson said to a group of campers.

Thompson spoke from the heart to a group of young men with their whole lives ahead.

Although Thompson hasn't seen it all, he's experienced the top of the NBA mountain for times and the pits of the NBA, whether it's injury, missing the playoffs, or losing from up 3-1 in the NBA Finals.

Thompson has the gravitas to inspire kids and adults in light of his highs and lows during his 13-year NBA career.

Thompson continued giving the young men the "game" they needed to approach life with open eyes and hearts.

"If you work on your game every day, you'll get the most out of your ability. You'll get to play basketball for a living, and there is no better job in the world. The real world is bull****. Just enjoy this to the fullest, especially being young and healthy," Thompson said.

Thompson's last line resonated, as he emphasized the word "healthy," considering he missed two consecutive years due to season-ending injuries, which ultimately diminished his elite athleticism.

However, the injuries didn't take his jump shot and, more importantly, his heart.
