Ronald Koeman Revelation on Memphis Depay's Move to Corinthians

Ronald Koeman has revealed his views on Memphis Depay’s move to Corinthians in the Brazilian league. The Dutch coach who wasn’t pleased with Bergwijn’s move to Saudi league, seemed more cool with that of Depay’s own. The Dutchman also spoke ahead of their thrilling fixture against Germany. He talked about the availability of some players, especially Manchester United star Joshua Zirkzee. Ronald Koeman also addressed the issue concerning the small brawl between Timber and Weghorst.

Netherlands is expected to face Germany in their last Nations League fixture for the month. Before this upcoming game, Oranje had crushed Bosnia and Herzegovina 5-2. Koeman will be expecting his side to put up a fight against the tough German team.

Ronald Koeman on Depay

The Dutchman spoke about Depay’s move to a 2-year deal with Corinthians in the Brazilian League and he said: “I disapproved Bergwijn to Saudi, with Memphis, it can be different,” he told reporters on Monday. “The level of the league in Brazil is different. So yes, Depay can still be part of the national team but it depends on his fitness and if he still reaches his level.”

Koeman also spoke in the press conference about Weghorst who had a minor brawl with Arsenal’s star Timber, and he said: “It’s completely normal, it happens everywhere. Let’s not make it bigger than it is. It’s also important to say that he didn’t leave during the training session. Afterward, he came up to me and we talked about it.”

Ronald Koeman on Zirkzee

It was reported that Koeman will be dropping Zirkzee ahead of Germany’s game. The Dutch coach has said that the Man United star will be replaced by Brobbey. He said: “Zirkzee did very well, but I discussed this with them beforehand. I want to see both strikers from the start and the choice of why Joshua starts today and Brian on Tuesday is mainly to do with the opponent.” He also added: “We hope to be dangerous in the transition against Germany. I want to see them both but ultimately you want to have a regular striker.”

Reactions to Koeman dropping Zirkzee

Dutch Pundits have reacted to Koeman’s decision to drop Zirkzee, one of them in the name Van Hooijdonk wasn’t impressed with the decision. He said: “It’s a shame that Koeman has already said that Brobbey will play against Germany because you are very curious to see how this duo [Zirkzee and Tijjani Reijnders] will do against a good opponent.”

Ex-Tottenham star Van der Vaart also shared his perspective saying: “What does Koeman gain from this? Imagine… Brobbey does great against a big country like Germany, or he does badly… I would just continue like this, I think. Why would you make a change?”

He finally added: “He has already said it, of course, and he will do what he has in mind. But it is almost a bit of a shame, of course.”
