Perez is accused of killing Theo Johnson on July 24, 2020, with a vehicle in Garden Grove, according to the criminal complaint.

Perez's arraignment Tuesday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana was rescheduled for Wednesday. He was ordered to appear in court from the prison in San Luis Obispo earlier this month.

Perez was convicted of burglary in February 2015 and in May 2014, according to court records.

Police and prosecutors did not immediately respond to requests for details.
