The Miami Marlins have added pitcher Michael Petersen to their roster after claiming him off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers . Petersen, a 30-year-old right-hander, was designated for assignment by the Dodgers just two days prior.

Petersen made his major league debut with Los Angeles on June 18, following a minor league contract signed in January. Over three stints with the Dodgers this season, he posted a 6.43 ERA in 11 appearances , striking out 11 batters while allowing eight walks and three home runs in 14 innings pitched.

Despite his struggles at the major league level, Petersen had a solid run with Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he recorded 10 saves and a 1.64 ERA across 35 games, with 44 strikeouts in 33 innings.

The Dodgers made the decision to designate Petersen to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for left-handed pitcher Nick Ramirez. In a related move, the Marlins created room for Petersen by designating Brett de Geus, another former Dodgers minor leaguer, for assignment.

Petersen will now look to make an impact with the Marlins as he continues his professional career.

Peterson has talent but control can be a problem and there is just no room for him.
