EX NFL Receiver Loves Seeing Chiefs' Trent McDuffie 'Blossom'

The Kansas City Chiefs traded away star cornerback L'Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans this past offseason, so Trent McDuffie has had to step up and be a leader on the defense.

Former NFL wide receiver Jermaine Kearse is currently a graduate assistant for the University of Washington, so he saw McDuffie play there a few years ago. In a recent interview, Kearse talked about seeing the young corner play in college, as well as how far he has come.

"He’s a hard worker. He’s always trying to perfect his craft," Kearse said. "The University of Washington has a lineage of great DBs to come out of there, and he’s just continuing that legacy. He is just a tremendous hard worker and a super awesome person, which translates into what he’s doing on the field."

While McDuffie only got two interceptions in his time at Washington, he did just about everything else, as he showed that his versatility is by far his biggest asset.

That is also the case with how he plays in the NFL, as he has not recorded an interception yet in his first two years in the league. But he is so much more than just a ball hawk, and he is looking to be a leader on the defense, despite being just 23 years old.

"Back-to-back Super Bowls, in the future, a three-peat, it’s a really cool thing to see from where he started, coming in as a freshman at UW," Kearse said. "Carrying out that work to the NFL, seeing his success blossom and his talents being exposed to the world to see how really good of a player he is, he continues to show that day in and day out."

McDuffie is a key part of what the Chiefs are trying to do going forward, and his play could continue to improve the longer he is in the league.
