HAZLE TOWNSHIP – A Luzerne County fire company has found the replacement for a ladder truck taken out of service by a crash earlier this year.

Hazle Township Supervisors approved Monday the purchase of a used 2018 Pierce 107′ aerial truck to replace their tractor-drawn aerial which crashed in March. The truck was totaled in the crash.

New apparatus takes about three to five years to build, the Hazle Township Fire Company said in a release, which led the township to seek a used truck.

“We feel that this apparatus paired with our Seagrave Aerialscope Tower Ladder will give us maximum versatility while keeping two truck companies in service on two separate ends of the Township,” they said in the release.

The truck will be painted and receive equipment in the near future. The truck previously served with the Swatara Fire and Rescue company in suburban Harrisburg.
