Oregon vs Oregon State Prediction, Game Preview, and Betting Lines

You want emotion? You want anger? You want raw college football emotion at the highest of levels?

Washington State and Washington will have its rivalry moment, too, but Oregon at Oregon State will be a bit more grouchy.

The two are 2-2 over the last four years - the Ducks rolled last year 31-7 - and now one side is in its new fancy schmancy new conference, and the other has been left twisting the wind. But Oregon State has been the better of the two so far.

Oregon struggled against Idaho, Oregon State pushed past Idaho State. Oregon struggled at home against its Mountain West foe (Boise State), Oregon State shut out San Diego State on the road.

The Big Ten season starts for Oregon next week against … UCLA? Oregon State hosts Purdue, but first, the 2024 season might be made or broken for these two because of this.

    Why Oregon Will Win

    Okay, ha ha, very funny.

This is about as soft as 2-0 gets. It was pushed WAY too much by Boise State, needing to come through late to pull this off.

But Dillon Gabriel is doing Dillon Gabriel things - the guy is hitting 83% of his passes - he’s not screwing up, and if anything, he and the team are playing like they needed these first two games to get going.

Oregon State has yet to be tested - SDSU isn’t there yet. The lines that have been so strong will struggle to find room, the deep plays might take a bit against more of a pass rush, and …

    Why Oregon State Will Win

    Oregon isn’t playing well.

After basically forgetting to score against Idaho in the opener, it was okay against Boise State offensively, but the defense got torn to shreds.

The Broncos will do that against plenty of teams this season, but this is Oregon. It’s supposed to be in the mix for the national championship.

(It really won’t be, but that’s for another day.)

Oregon State is getting it done on the defensive front. The plays are there in the backfield, the run D has been wonderful, and San Diego State’s “AzFast” offense is a good tune-up for what Oregon will try to do.

On the other side, Oregon’s running game has been crushing, the downfield plays are there, and …

Oregon vs Oregon State: Who Will Win

    BE CAREFUL here.

Oregon will win, but only because Gabriel and the Duck attack will control the clock and the tempo in the fourth quarter just when it seems like the Beavers are about to do something big.

Everyone is waiting for Oregon to go Oregon, but a key part to where Duck love comes from is still based on one key thing …

(The team didn’t really beat anyone all that amazing last season - but that included Oregon State.)

At home the Beavers will make this close, but once again the Ducks will get a win without looking the part.
