Caltrans is notifying motorists about an upcoming extended closure of a key connector ramp as part of the ongoing Yolo Interstate 80 (I-80) Pavement Rehabilitation Project. Beginning Friday, September 13, the westbound I-80 connector ramp to eastbound U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) will close for repaving work, with the closure lasting until Monday, September 23.

The closure is scheduled from 9 p.m. on Friday, September 13 to 5 a.m. on Monday, September 23. Caltrans is urging drivers to plan for additional travel time and anticipate delays due to the work.

Motorists are advised to use the following detours during the closure:

    • Take westbound I-80 to southbound I-5 (Exit 86) through downtown Sacramento for access to westbound US 50.
    • Take westbound I-80 to Enterprise Boulevard (Exit 81) for access to eastbound US 50.
    • Take westbound I-80 to Reed Avenue (Exit 83) for access to the City of West Sacramento.

The construction zone stretches from the Yolo Causeway through West Sacramento along I-80 and US 50. To enhance safety, the speed limit in the work zone has been reduced to 55 miles per hour, effective 24/7. Drivers are urged to remain cautious and follow posted speed limits to ensure the safety of workers and travelers alike.

The extended closure will enable faster completion of the rehabilitation work while enhancing worker safety. The $280 million Yolo I-80 Pavement Rehabilitation Project includes $47 million from Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
