    Gracen Halton of OU named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week

    Norman, Oklahoma — University of Oklahoma junior defensive lineman Gracen Halton was named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week on Monday following his performance in the Sooners' 16-12 win over Houston on Saturday.

    He shared the award with Alabama defensive lineman Tim Keenan III.

    Halton registered a pair of tackles for loss, including a sack and a safety, Saturday night.

    The sack was for a loss of 11 yards and the safety came on a five-yard stuff of a run play with 1:42 left in the game and with the Sooners leading just 14-12.

    It was OU's only scoring play of the second half.

    Halton helped OU hold Houston to 58 rushing yards and 1.7 yards per carry on the night.

    The San Diego, California, product, who entered the season with 3.5 career TFLs and no sacks, ranks second among SEC defensive linemen this season with his 3.5 TFLs.

    He has 2.5 sacks for a loss of 20 yards.

    No. 15/13 Oklahoma (2-0) is back at home on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Central Time when it welcomes Tulane (1-1) to Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

    The game will be televised on ESPN.
