Ex-Clipper big man Montrezl Harrell will join the NBL’s Adelaide 36ers in Australia, sources told ESPN’s Olgun Uluc. The agreement between both sides is said to be on a short-term deal.

    Details behind Trez’s NBL move

According to Uluc, Harrell will join the 36ers as more of an injury replacement for injured forward Jarell Martin, who is ailing from foot complications which could sideline him until November. Even though the contract is considerably short-term, there is a possibility that Montrezl will remain in Adelaide once Martin returns from his recovery, though it will require the ball club to deactivate one player to fulfill that.

Harrell will leave the NBA after eight seasons. He missed the past 2023-24 campaign as he sustained an ACL and meniscus tear, which subsequently required him to take surgery in last year's offseason. He played his final season in the league as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 5.6 points and 2.8 boards across 57 games in 2022-23.

The 2024-25 NBL season for Harrell and the 36ers will officially start on Sept. 22 as they'll face the Sydney Kings. The franchise will look to deliver a stronger season rally after last year's disappointing finish.hise will look to deliver a stronger season rally after last year's disappointing finish.

Revisiting Trez’s tenure as a Clipper

Harrell, 30, stands as one of the most notable Ex-Clipper who helped the franchise maintain its relevance and success in the post-Lob City era.

Trez savored the best time of his professional run wearing a Clipper uniform. A hustling back-to-basket beast with a relentless play style, he played three seasons in L.A. and saw the 2019-20 campaign as his major revelation, winning the league's Sixth Man of the Year award by averaging 18.6 points and 7.1 boards in 58.0 percent shooting for 63 games.

As he vies for a career resurgence, we can only hope for the best in Montrezl’s new beginnings.
