The Blade hasn’t appeared in front of AEW or ROH fans since January, and his last match was on an indie show in February. This was later revealed to be because he was dealing with bulging and ruptured discs in his back, with it unknown how long he would be sidelined. And while his recovery timeline still remains unclear, the 44-year-old has now updated his followers on Instagram , disclosing he has undergone back fusion surgery, which he thankfully confirmed was successful.

The Blade, real name Jesse Guilmette, has been wrestling since 2000, and while he did appear on SmackDown, losing a squash match to Shad Gaspard in 2010, it wasn’t until 2015 that he really started to make his name thanks to joining TNA. Still, the veteran’s actual big break would come in 2019 when he and independent tag partner The Butcher debuted for AEW, attacking Cody Rhodes on Dynamite. From there, the duo would be regularly featured alongside The Blade’s real-life wife, The Bunny, although she has since departed the company.
