Despite their struggles, Deion Sanders believes in his offensive line but Colorado needs solutions going into Week 3.

Still, Sanders believes in his staff and players to get it right ahead of a rivalry game with Colorado State.
“Of course, I feel like we got the right guys,” Sanders said . “You may see us shake something up a little bit. Phil Loadholt is a wonderful offensive line coach. Pat (Shurmur) does a tremendous job in calling plays, as he did the first game. So you just can’t take a snapshot of one game and not understand the first game. Well, if we have 500 yards of offense, there ain’t all these questions, but I understand it comes with the territory, so you got to ask them.
“But game to game, it’s going to be something else, like we go out there and run for a couple hundred yards, you gonna say, ‘Well, why didn’t you throw on third and two? You had a heavy box. You got to let Shedeur take those one on ones.’ So it’s going to always be questioned. But we deserve it, when you when you lose, you’re gonna be ridiculed, you’re gonna be prosecuted and persecuted and I’m good. I’ve been on a cross for a long time, and I’m still hanging.”

This is a pivotal time for Sanders and Colorado, according to ESPN’s Rece Davis. At 1-1, it wouldn’t seem like that.
But with all of the buzz and attention since last season, Sanders and the Buffaloes have to improve.
“At the risk of going overboard, because I think Deion Sanders is a good, tough hard-noses, old school football coach at his core, I also think Colorado is now at a point where they’ve sort of got an existential crisis,” Davis said . “They’ve got a quarterback who is gonna be a first-round pick. He’s a very talented guy and they’ve got the best football player in the country all-around in Travis Hunter. Yet, the rest of it hasn’t developed yet and doesn’t show a lot of signs of doing it this year. Then those guys are going to be gone. Now what’re you going to do?
“Do you have the energy and the time and the disposition to go at it the way Matt Rhule did and build it for a little more sustainability? It’s a really delicate time for Colorado. How they handle the rest of the season. I think Deion’s a good coach. I do. But you can be as good a coach as you want. If you can’t protect and you can’t really impact on the defensive line with the type of bodies like you were talking about, you can be as good as coach as you want to, it’s not gonna happen. At least not at the level you hope it happens. Really, really pivotal time for Colorado that will really come to a head at the end of the season when Shedeur and Travis head on to the NFL.”
