Agatha All Along & WandaVision Creator Reveals Thoughts on Fantastic Four & Mephisto Fan Theories

There was a lot of fan speculation about the MCU series WandaVision even before its premiere on Disney Plus in January 2021. Now, the series’ creator, Jac Schaeffer, has spoken about how she responded at the time and how her approach to fan theories has changed since. This comes as her newest MCU series, Agatha All Along , is all set to debut next week.

Agatha All Along’s Jac Schaeffer addresses WandaVision’s haywire fan theories

During a recent interview, Schaeffer reflected on how she reacted to some of the wildest fan theories about WandaVision. Some fans believed that Mephisto, a demonic entity from Marvel Comics, was the primary antagonist of Wandavision. Some also thought that Al Pacino would portray the character in the show. Quite a few of them thought that WandaVision introduced the MCU version of The Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards as an unnamed aerospace engineer. These two are only the tip of the iceberg of fan theories that never really materialized in WandaVision.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter , Schaeffer was asked if she had taken any measures to stop the viewers from making improbable assumptions about the plot of Agatha All Along, as her newer show definitely has the scope for it. “It is true,” she said in response. “At the time, with WandaVision, I took the fan theories a little personally, and I feel like I’ve changed since then after walking through the WandaVision experience.”

Schaeffer continued, “Everyone at Marvel during WandaVision was so relaxed about the fan theories, and I now understand that there are always going to be theories. You just have to do your work and do it as best you can and hope that the audience enjoys the journey of it.” She added, “So I am not as preoccupied with them as I was. But, yes, the short answer is there are a handful of things that of course I can’t explain. I have been very careful with the language that I use in order to protect things.”
