Prince William stepped out solo in Llanelli, Wales, on Monday. The visit was significant as it occurred nearly two years after King Charles bestowed the Prince and Princess of Wales with their titles. While visiting, the Prince's first stop was Swiss Valley Community Primary School, Llanelli. He met the staff and schoolchildren, including those who participated in Urdd Eisteddfod 2024. Urdd Eisteddfod is an annual national festival celebrating the Welsh language and culture.
Prince William met with the teachers and students who participated in the festival. He also watched a showcase of the school's entries at the festival. The Royal wanted to know how the festival had impacted the children. Finally, he met with Ruby Davies, a 10-year-old from the school. The student won the individual reciting competition for her category at the festival. The Headteacher, Jo Davies, told People that Ruby was initially nervous about meeting the Prince, but he set her at ease with his kindness.
The Headteacher further shared his thoughts about the impact of Prince William's visit. He revealed that the Prince was a "gentleman!" Fantastic." Davies said the school was happy they could share their gift with Prince William. "As a school, we thrive on giving our children as many opportunities and experiences as we can. One of those was entering our children into the National Eisteddfod, and we had success with Ruby. For him to recognize that and want to come to our school and share in that is just amazing."
Davies further praised his teachers, who pulled up an "incredible" performance with the students. He noted that they only had a week to prepare. He also lauded Ruby for her excellent conduct. "I'm incredibly proud of the choir and the children and, of course, Ruby, who was incredible today. It was so nice for the school to share that with the Prince of Wales," the Headteacher said. Finally, he thanked Prince William for his compliments and kindness to the school.
Prince William Visited the Rugby Team
Prince William also touched the heart of Welsh culture by visiting the national Rugby team. He spent time celebrating the past and present members of the Parc y Scarlets and promised to see the international squad participate in the 2025 World Cup. Prince William's recent visit to Llanelli underscores his devotion to Wales. He and Kate once lived in a farmhouse while he was stationed at Anglesey. The Royal served at RAF Valley as an RAF search and Rescue pilot from 2010 to 2013.
The Prince Receives Well Wishes on Kate's Behalf
On September 9, Kate uploaded a video where she revealed she had finished chemotherapy. The Princess of Wales was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. In the video, she disclosed that her "path to healing and full recovery is long" despite completing chemotherapy. Nevertheless, she noted that her diagnosis and treatment journey have enabled her and her husband to be "grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved."
