Safe Kids PBC to Distribute 50 Free Car Seats at the Free Car Seat Check Up Event

North Palm Beach, FL - Safe Kids PBC, a program of Community Partners of South Florida, is hosting a free car seat check-up event for Palm Beach County families on September 21, 2024 at North Palm Beach Fire Rescue on 560 US Highway 1 in North Palm Beach between 9:00 am and noon.

Certified passenger safety technicians will be on hand to check the safe and correct installation of both car seats and booster seats and Safe Kids PBC will also be giving away free car seats to families with their children present, an initiative sponsored by the law firm of Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll PLLC.

Since supplies are limited, Safe Kids PBC Program Director Kathryn Wall encourages parents to arrive early if they want a car seat.

“Roadside injuries are the leading preventable cause of death and injury to children in the U.S.,” Wall said. “Properly installed child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by over 70% and we want to make sure that every child in Palm Beach County is safe when they’re traveling.”

Funded by the Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County, Safe Kids PBC is a community based program that offers safety education and materials to families to decrease preventable injuries in children from 0 to 19. In addition to hosting courses for residents to learn how to become a safety technician, Safe Kids PBC also hosts inspection events year round.

Everybody in my neighborhood just thinks if you throw your kids in the backseat that’s all you have to do. You don’t need to use baby seats.
