The iconic Knollwood Country Club in Granger, a staple of the community since 1975, has officially been put on the market for $6.5 million, sparking concern and reflection among long-time members and neighbors. For nearly five decades, Knollwood has been more than just a country club—it has been a gathering place for families, a community hub, and a piece of local history. But as the property moves toward potential new ownership, questions loom over its future.

With its expansive grounds and numerous amenities, including two 18-hole golf courses, a restaurant, banquet hall, tennis and pickleball courts, and a pool, Knollwood offers much more than a typical country club experience. Longtime member Tim Wood, who joined the club in 1980, spoke to the club's significance. "All sorts of people in all different settings, and different jobs and from different places, they have a really nice mixture of people," said Wood. "I raised three kids here, and we had a big enough yard for them to play in. The pool was there for the summer, and they could walk down when they were old enough."

Despite the property’s vibrant history, there are no guarantees that Knollwood will remain a country club under new ownership. The club’s board of directors has declined to comment on whether the course will stay intact, leaving the future open-ended. Wood voiced concerns that if the property is sold to a developer or someone with different intentions, the golf courses—and the community that has formed around them—could disappear. “If they manage to buy the land here with the golf courses, they may do what they want,” Wood lamented.

For those interested in purchasing Knollwood, the process is formal and requires financial strength and the ability to close. Offers must be submitted in writing, and prospective buyers are expected to tour the property before finalizing their offers. These requirements reflect the desire to ensure that any future owner is both serious about the purchase and capable of preserving its value.

The $6.5 million price tag comes with significant opportunities, but also a heavy responsibility. Knollwood's lush landscape and rich history hold deep meaning for its members, and any changes could reshape the heart of the Granger community.

As Knollwood’s next chapter unfolds, its neighbors and members can only hope that the property’s legacy will endure, preserving the club as a place for families to gather, generations to grow, and memories to be made.
