Giants Ineptitude vs. Vikings Falls At Feet of Joe Schoen

It has only been one game, but it feels like the sky is falling for the New York Giants.

That's what happens when the team drops a winnable contest against the Minnesota Vikings in an embarrassing 28-6 final. New York failed to look competent against a rebuilding Vikings roster on both offense and defense.

While quarterback Daniel Jones and head coach Brian Daboll have gotten most of the blame from Sunday's loss, the true culprit continues to be the man who has put the players around both of them.

General manager Joe Schoen has failed to put forth a competitive football team on the field for New York over the last few seasons.

Failed draft picks, poor free agent signings, and blown-up trades have left the Giants devoid of talent, and a plan to improve the group going forward. There's also the reality that Schoen was the one who gave Jones a nearly $40 million-a-year contract overall.

Daboll may be the face of the operation in New York, but the reality is that the failings the Giants are showing right now have more to do with Schoen than anyone else.

And his failings aren't easy fixable, either. It's why the Giants' 2024 season may be the worst one yet coming up.
