Fourth Annual Fall Craft and Vendor Show This Weekend To Benefit American Heritage Music Hall

LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – On Saturday, Sept. 14, the fourth annual Fall Craft and Vendor Show benefiting the American Heritage Music Hall will be held at the Rhema Christian Center on Davis Stuart Road in Lewisburg. Event hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free to the public. With at least 40 vendors set to display their handmade items, fundraiser organizer Kay Shafer says “We will have things from everyday items to gift and seasonal items. It’s really just a variety of everything.”

From jewelry and woodworking to wreaths, quilts, jams and jellies, craft shows give local artisans the opportunity to display their labor of love. When asked what makes handmade items so special, Shafer confidently replied “When something is handmade, the person who made that item has put a lot of time and love into it. It’s a special thing for the crafter when they sell an item and someone likes it.” In addition to the aforementioned crafts, this year’s show will feature wind chimes as a new addition. Shoppers who enjoy flower arrangements, paintings and crochet items will also appreciate the selection. The Dough Ball Bakery of Gap Mills will also be on hand with a selection of bread, cinnamon rolls and apple butter.

While many consumers have embraced online shopping as the new norm, some still search for the quality and attention to detail found only in handcrafted items. “With handmade items, you can pick them up and check them out,” Shafer says. “When you shop online, you don’t always know what you’re going to get. When you come out to a craft show, you can see exactly what you’re getting,” she adds. “Plus, it supports the area and also the local people who do this for a little extra money. It’s just really good for the community.”

If you’re in the mood for lunch, there will be a concession stand open all day. Available items will include hot dogs, barbeques, pasta salad, nachos and cheese, chicken salad sandwiches and refreshments. If you still have room, there will also be a selection of desserts available.

All proceeds from the crafter setup fees, concession food sales and a raffle basket will benefit the American Heritage Music Hall in Ronceverte, West Virginia. There will be a separate raffle basket with proceeds benefiting Rhema church. Tickets may be purchased at the event and are priced at $1 each or six for $5. The drawing will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. as the show winds down and you do not have to be present to win.
