ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive Kneecap clip from Sony Pictures Classics’ stylish and over-the-top biopic to celebrate the digital release of the movie about the formation of an Irish hip-hop group.

What happens in the Kneecap clip?

The Kneecap clip shows off the first time that JJ “DJ Próvaí” Ó Dochartaigh meets Liam Óg “Mo Chara” Ó Hannaidh, as the former is brought in to translate for the latter after he’s arrested. The clip also showcases the third member of Kneecap, Naoise “Móglaí Bap” Ó Cairealláin, as he has a conversation with his mother in their house.

Kneecap is now available to rent or buy digitally. The film follows the story of the band of the same name, who play themselves in the movie as they grow in fame while also becoming a figurehead for a battle of civil rights.

Check out the exclusive Kneecap clip below (watch other clips and trailers):

Kneecap is written and directed by Rich Peppiatt and stars Liam Óg Ó Hannaidh, Naoise Ó Cairealláin, and JJ Ó Dochartaigh as themselves. The film also features Josie Walker, Fionnuala Flaherty, Jessica Reynolds, Adam Best, Simone Kirby, and Michael Fassbender.

“When fate brings Belfast schoolteacher JJ into the orbit of self-confessed “low-life scum” Naoise and Liam Óg, the needle drops on a hip-hop act like no other,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Rapping in their native Irish language, Kneecap fast become the unlikely figureheads of a civil rights movement to save their mother tongue. But the trio must first overcome police, paramilitaries, and politicians trying to silence their defiant sound — whilst their anarchic approach to life often makes them their own worst enemies. In this fiercely original sex, drugs, and hip-hop biopic, Kneecap plays themselves, laying down a global rallying cry for the defense of native cultures.”
