Oklahoma is set to face Tulane this Saturday, with kickoff planned for 2:30 p.m. CT. I had the opportunity to chat with Corey Gloor, the play-by-play announcer for the Green Wave, to discuss what to expect in this exciting matchup.

Craig: The negating of that touchdown with 17 seconds left against Kansas State still stings days later does it not?

Corey: That's fair to say. The program is doing a good job of moving past that. The coaches are doing a good job of not letting the heartbreak linger around. It does sting, no doubt. Tulane knew how important that game was and to have it end that way was frustrating to say the least.

Craig: What has the message been this week from Head Coach Jon Sumrall to the team?

Corey: The biggest thing is that he doesn't want there to be a negative carryover effect in Norman. No one on the Sooners will care that it ended that way. They will not feel sorry, so they need to lick their wounds pretty quick. I do a show with Coach Sumrall, and he told me if the team is pouting on Saturday, they will get absolutely crushed. His message to the team has been very clear. There cannot be a lingering effect.

Craig: Let's start on the offensive side of the ball. Tell our readers what Mario Williams brings to the Green Wave offensive attack?

Corey: Mario has been absolutely electrifying in the first two games. I think everyone knew he had speed and playmaking ability, but to see him make an impact immediately in a leadership role is what the staff and fan base was hoping for. He was getting free every other play against Kansas State. There aren't many guys around the country that can do that. He's a dynamic weapon and has been one of the bright spots this season.

Craig: Another bright spot has been the play on the defensive side of the ball from Kameron Hamilton. He has a unique and inspiring, story does he not?

Corey: Kameron Hamilton is a young guy; he's getting reps under his belt and he's medically deaf as you know. When he's on the field, he has to read lips. The fact he is overcoming that and making a high impact on the field has been pretty impressive.

Overall, Tulane is looking for a consistent pass rush. Jackson Arnold is a talented quarterback, and the defense will want to keep him in the pocket and get to him.

Craig: Last time these programs faced each other three years ago, it wound up being really close and you have a unique story about that contest. Please share with our readers.

Corey: That was my first game in the Tulane radio booth in 2021. That game was supposed to be played in New Orleans, but Hurricane Ida came and knocked out power to the city for weeks, so it was relocated. I was the only one due to the inclement weather that was able to make the trip and conduct the broadcast. I was scrambling to get ready for the game and I needed assistance from folks in Oklahoma to get the broadcast on the air. To then go and nearly pull off that win, was exhilarating.

I'm not sure Saturday's game will resemble that as these two teams might not put up that many points as they did three years ago. I'll never forget that game.
