Plans for a Dallas-to-Fort Worth high-speed rail are moving forward with a new route under review.

The Dallas Morning News reports the North Central Texas Council of Governments is funding an additional $1.6 million for engineering and environmental studies of the new alignment, which would loop west of downtown Dallas.

The original route raised concerns about disrupting plans for the reconstruction of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. The rail line could carry 30,000 passengers daily and link Dallas to Fort Worth in half the time of the current Trinity Railway Express route.

This is really stupid. It will cost millions of dollars, disrupt property along the way. Hey, idiots planning this- a high speed train for a distance of 32 miles? I know damn well somehow the citizens are gonna get more taxes shoved up their ass.
