Top High School Football Games in Georgia

#7 Buford vs. #3 Douglas County Friday, Sept. 13
Previous Meeting: Buford 48, Douglas County 0 (2020)
Douglas County has emerged as one of the Peach State’s best so far in 2024, beginning the season 4-0, with the most recent victory being a big one over Langston Hughes . Junior receivers Aaron Gregory and Devin Carter are among the nation’s best and have been consistent targets for QB DJ Bordeaux . The season has been rockier thus far for Buford, the No. 7 team in the state, however. A tight loss to nationally-ranked Milton was followed by a one-point win at home. The Wolves (2-1) bounced back nicely last week, putting up 52 points on the road in a win over Roswell . Junior QB Dayton Raiola is improving and the Wolves boast a defense stacked with blue-chip prospects. The Massey Ratings favor the road team once again, giving Buford a 71% win probability.

#13 Gainesville vs. #2 Carrollton Friday, Sept. 13
    Previous Meeting: Carrollton 41, Gainesville 6 (2006)
Gainesville has been one of the early surprises in Georgia thus far, cruising to a 3-0 start behind an impressive offense and a stout defense. The Red Elephants are coming off a 41-7 road win over Westlake and have now allowed 7 points or less in each of their three wins. Carrollton (4-0) looked sloppy in its season-opener against Woodward, but USC QB commit Julian Lewis and the Trojans have rebounded nicely, scoring 63 points in a shutout last week. Lewis has already eclipsed 1,000 passing yards this season and has hurled 18 TDs to just one interception. The Massey Ratings predict Carrollton will defend home turf and win 38-20.

#1 Milton vs. Blessed Trinity Catholic Friday, Sept. 13
    Previous Meeting: N/A
Milton has earned its No. 1 ranking so far this season, besting top-10 Buford , defeating known Florida power American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale and stomping Alpharetta by 58 in its most-recent outing. Miami QB commit Luke Nickel has thrown for 599 yards and five touchdowns so far, while Florida State WR commit CJ Wiley has 199 receiving yards and two scores. Blessed Trinity (3-0) has quietly risen to No. 26 in the state rankings and has a pristine opportunity to ruffle some feathers with an upset win this week. Junior RB Ahmontae Pitts has four TDs this season and is averaging over 100 yards per game on the ground. The Massey Ratings tab Milton with a 90% win probability.

#18 Lee County vs. #17 Colquitt County Friday, Sept. 13
Previous Meeting: Colquitt County 37, Lee County 20 (2023)
Lee County (3-0) will look to remain perfect on the season this Friday and hand Colquitt County (2-1) its second loss in a row. Both teams are coming off a bye week. The No. 17 Packers were stymied in their previous outing, putting up just 3 points in a loss to now-No. 4 North Gwinnett . The Trojans have looked like a serious problem offensively thus far and are averaging over 55 points per game, led by stud senior running back Ousmane Kromah . The Massey Ratings lean toward the home team, however, with 64% win probability falling to Colquitt.

Jefferson vs. North Oconee Friday, Sept. 13
Previous Meeting: North Oconee 11, Jefferson 6 (2021)
An important, yet under-the-radar matchup will go down in Bogart this Friday North Oconee (3-0) hosts Jefferson (3-1) in a battle between top-30 Georgia programs. North Oconee WR and Georgia commit Landon Roldan has been a machine thus far and is coming off a five-touchdown performance in a win over Clarke Central last week. Jefferson lost to ranked Marist in its season-opener but has bounced back strong with a trio of convincing wins, including a 45-28 victory over Stephens County last time out. The Massey Ratings predict a 28-22 win for North Oconee.
