Hurricane Francine is slowly making her way northeast just off the Texas coast. She made landfall in Louisiana Wednesday evening as a category 2 hurricane.

After making landfall, the center is expected to move north towards Mississippi Wednesday night into Thursday.

Both Louisiana and Mississippi declared states of emergency for Hurricane Francine.

The Air Force Hurricane Hunters reported Wednesday morning that winds have increased to nearly 90 mph with higher gusts, but Francine is expected to weaken quickly after she moves inland.

According to News 3 meterologist Patrick Rockey, there is a 30 percent chance of a wave striking Virginia, turning in to a tropical system.
