Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Josh Palmer was ejected from the Los Angeles Chargers' win against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1 after a fight broke out between the two teams.

Palmer got into a scuffle with Raiders cornerback Jack Jones in the fourth quarter of the Chargers' 22-10 win (Jones was also ejected).

Palmer told reporters after the game that he was surprised he was ejected because he didn't throw any punches.

From ESPN : Jones wasn't available for comment postgame. Palmer said that he "got punched a lot," including once by Jones earlier in the game, and was surprised that he was ejected because he didn't throw a punch.

"They came and started throwing punches, but we're not going to be punching bags," Palmer said. "So we had to defend ourselves."

There was some talk that Palmer and Jones could face a suspension from the NFL. But according to NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero, the NFL isn't expected to suspend either player, though they could face fines from the league.

Palmer and the Chargers will take on the Carolina Panthers in Week 2 of the NFL season.
