Paul Finebaum Issues Bleak Outlook On Brian Kelly Ahead Of Week 3

The whole college football world saw the frustration fuming from LSU Tigers head football coach Brian Kelly after their 27-20 loss to the No. 23-ranked USC Trojans to open the season.

He’s yet to win a season opener since heading to Baton Rouge, and LSU's 44-21 Week 2 drubbing of the Nicholls State Colonels didn’t wash the taste out of fans’ mouths either.

The Tigers will be front and center, once again, in Week 3 as LSU travels to Columbia, South Carolina, along with “College GameDay”, to take on the resurgent South Carolina Gamecocks. College football analyst Paul Finebaum says Kelly will need to win this road contest or start to face questions from LSU fans.

“I think it would be a shattering loss,” Finebaum said on “ Always College Football .” “To have two losses by the middle of September would be hard to handle. LSU fans are great fans but they're also quick to start asking questions, and they would certainly be asking plenty of them."

The Tigers surely seem to be missing their Heisman-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels from a year ago and they’re also dealing with several key injuries including running back John Emery Jr.

“I felt like they threw away the opportunity against Southern Cal and they can’t do that again,” Finebaum said.

The kickoff between the No. 16-ranked Tigers and the Gamecocks is scheduled for Saturday, September 14 at noon ET on ABC.
