Jalen Milroe Can't Hold in His Excitement Over Ryan Williams

Through two games, Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams is tied for the most touchdown catches in the country by a freshman with three while leading his team in receiving yards.

Williams' quarterback, Jalen Milroe, had three words to say about the freshman, "he the truth."

Milroe could already see it before Williams even stepped foot in the building.

"While he was a recruit, he was talking about when he gets there (to Tuscaloosa), 'Hey, whenever you want to run routes and catch let me know cause I'm there,'" Milroe said on The Pivot . "This is a guy who lives in Mobile, (Ala.) which is not near Tuscaloosa. He was willing to leave there and come to Tuscaloosa. So, there's so many things that people don't know that make the guy special."

What people see is his game-changing ability, signature celebration, and catchy quotes such as, "Four plus two does equal six," regarding Williams' and Milroe's jersey numbers.

But behind the scenes, Milroe paints a picture of a determined, ambitious, and hungry grinder.

"To see his development in a short period, that's what I truly believe that separates him," Milroe said. "There's a lot of great receivers in the country, but it was how he flipped the page from a high school 17-year old to in a sense a college 17-year old which is much different."

Making that adjustment from high school to college has been ultra smooth and Milroe credits Williams' attention to detail as an essential key to making that transition.

"I see the growth in him, I see the determination, I see the attention to detail-oriented he is," Milroe said. "He went into the training room one day and he said, 'Hey, can you put on the plan that DeVonta Smith was on?' I said, 'Oh we serious.'"

Yes, Williams is serious, and his play has shown it, but the pressure will only grow as the competition steps up, including this Saturday when the Crimson Tide go on the road for the first time .

Everything Williams has shown so far indicates that Saturday will just be another chance to show that he's no ordinary 17-year-old.
