Green Party candidate Jill Stein, of Lexington, leads among Muslim voters in key swing states, survey finds

Stein has repeatedly attacked the Biden-Harris administration for failing to prevent the loss of Palestinian lives in Gaza.

Jill Stein, the Green Party presidential candidate and a Lexington resident, is finding some momentum among Muslim voters in key swing states, according to a new report.

Stein leads Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump among Muslim voters in Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin, according to polling from the Council on American-Islamic Relations. She has the support of 35% of Muslim voters in Arizona, 40% in Michigan, and 44% in Wisconsin.

Harris is leading among Muslim voters in Georgia and Pennsylvania, with 43% and 37%, respectively. Trump leads in Muslim voter support in Nevada with 27%, according to the report.

Overall, most Muslim voters appear evenly split between Harris and Stein. The polling found that 29.4% of Muslim voters overall support Harris, while 29.1% support Stein. Trump garnered 11.2%, and 16.5% said they were undecided.

By gender, Harris leads among Muslim male voters with 29%. Stein leads among female Muslim voters with 34%.

“Candidates running for office cannot afford to overlook the issues that matter most to Muslim Americans. Ignoring this community or taking their votes for granted could be a costly mistake, particularly in swing states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada and Wisconsin, where elections are often won by narrow margins. It’s time for candidates at every level of government to invest more time and resources in understanding the concerns of Muslim voters,” CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw said in a statement.

As the Israeli military continues to devastate Gaza with powerful munitions dropped in humanitarian zones, Stein has been a vocal supporter of Palestinian rights and harsh critic of America’s continued sale of weapons to Israel.

During the debate Tuesday between Harris and Trump, Stein took to social media to criticize both candidates on a variety of issues. On the topic of Gaza, Stein blamed the Biden-Harris administration for enabling Israel to commit war crimes.

When asked about the war in Gaza during the debate, Harris said that, while Israel has a right to defend itself, the number of innocent lives lost in Gaza is unacceptable. She called for the war to end immediately with a ceasefire deal that would free the remaining Israeli hostages and pushed for a two-state solution where Israelis and Palestinians have equal access to security and stability.

Stein said that Harris was being disingenuous.

Stein publicly clashed with another high-profile Democrat recently. While filming a video on Instagram, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Stein for mounting quixotic Presidential campaigns over the years without working to grow the Green Party’s prominence through down-ballot electoral gains. Ocasio-Cortez called Stein’s actions “predatory.” Stein responded by saying the Democrats are “running scared” because voters do not want to support a genocide.
