idu how gifts equal uplifting such a life moment to start a new life with family and friends? it us to be a ceremony after church services family and friends gathered to cherish a new beginning.and a home cooked meal or picnic, if big enough gatheringthen u went home or was toasted as they left for honey moon.I really miss family gatherings because we love one another not about a $$$ amount that is how u felt they shared or blessed.

Absolutely you have the right to be puzzled. I don't know of any culture where anyone attending wedding is not expected to give at least a card or small gift. Would they go to a birthday party or Christmas dinner without a gift?
