Diamondbacks named a potential landing spot for Astros fan favorite

The Arizona Diamondbacks have their sights set on another trip to the World Series after falling short to the Texas Rangers in five games last year.

The goal in Arizona is clearly to win now and maximize their window to win a title.

This offseason, they will have a decision to make. They have a club option on slugger Eugenio Suarez that they could pick up. However, in the event that they decline it, they will be in the market for an upgrade at the third base position.

Zach Rymer of Bleacher Report listed Arizona as a potential fit for Houston Astros fan favorite Alex Bregman.

"The Snakes don't need a third baseman now, but that won't be the case if they decline Eugenio Suarez's $15 million option for 2025, which wouldn't be a bad idea, given he's a 33-year-old whose prime has been on thin ice for a couple of years at this point," Rymer wrote.

Bregman could give the Diamondbacks a significant boost at third base should they decline Suarez's club option. In what may turn out to be his final year with the Astros, the 30-year-old is hitting .257 with 22 home runs, 65 RBI, and a .756 OPS.

The veteran slugger was an MVP finalist in 2019 and played key roles in the Astros winning World Series titles in 2017 and 2022. Arizona might be smart to decline Suarez's option and pursue an upgrade at third base.

Bregman is somebody with great postseason experience under his belt that could certainly help the D-Backs take the next step and win a World Series title in 2025.

Arizona currently sits in third place in the National League West, five games out of first, while also occupying the second Wild Card. They should be in the postseason this year, but it will be interesting to see if they target Bregman, whose market will be very competitive given his track record.

because of his agent his going to ask for 7 years and $250 million. wont get it for an often injured .260 hitter. Great defensive player but hasn't been a clutch hitter in late innings this year. Good luck but Astros need the cash for Valdez and maybe Tucker.
