Josh Brolin Will Not Star in New DC Series “Lanterns”

Robert Downey Jr. may be returning to the allure of the superhero world, but Josh Brolin has decided to pass on his opportunity to suit up once more.

As per an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, it has been revealed that Brolin passed on an offer to star in the new DC Studios series, Lanterns , based on the Green Lanterns character.

IMDb details that the series will follow two intergalactic cops, a new recruit, John Stewart, and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, as they are drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery while they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Brolin was eyed to step into the role of Jordan and received the offer in August, but he has decided not to go ahead with the project.

Lanterns will be eight episodes and helmed by the six-time Emmy-nominated Chris Mundy, whose previous work consists of Ozark , T rue Detective , and Criminal Minds .

Mundy joins the three-time Emmy-nominated Damon Lindelof of Watchmen , Lost , and – most recently – Mrs Davis to co-write alongside Eisner Award-winning comic author Tom King.

Set to head into production in January through June of 2025, the series is currently assembling its cast and crew.

More details are yet to be announced.
