Third Suspect Arrested in Jackson Homicide

Tuesday evening, police of Jackson, MS announced that a third suspect had been arrested in connection with an August homicide.

Thirty-year-old Frederick Smith passed away after a shooting that occured in in the 5300 Block of I-55 Frontage Road on August 8, 2024. According to the Clarion Ledger, Smith was shot and subsequently died at the scene.

On September 10, 2024, authorities arrested Gennady Cobbins, age 20. Cobbins was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, capital murder, and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Two other suspects have been previously arrested and charged in connection with the homicide.

On August 28, 2024, Demarcus Jones, 20, was arrested. Charged with capital murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle, Jones is currently being held in Madison County on other charges.

Alexandria McDonald, 20, was arrested on August 26, 2024. McDonald was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
