The Minnesota Twins need a spark in the absolute worst way with just a few games remaining in the regular season. The Los Angeles Angels are a bottom feeder capable of providing it. Kyle Farmer brought some additional help in the form of the rally sausage . Starting pitcher Pablo Lopez found himself appreciative of the decision.

The Minnesota Twins had lost 15 of their last 21 games and found themselves in a freefall. The lineup had ceased to score runs, and the pitching staff is wearing down. The Twins brought back the rally sausage and immediately exploded for ten runs on Tuesday night . Starting pitcher Pablo Lopez worked seven innings and things appeared to turn.

“I noticed it when Farmer hit a homer. I don’t know where they put it. I don’t know where they keep it. But I saw it in his hand and I’m like, ‘OK. It’s back,’ and it was great…We had it when we won 12 games in a row, and Anaheim was a part of that. I’m sure seeing the sausage made a lot of guys say, ‘You know what? We know how we can play when we have a good thing going when everyone’s just playing loose.’ There’s no need to feel pressure that’s self-inflicted.”

The Athletic’s Dan Hayes also talked with manager Rocco Baldelli. The rally sausage doesn’t strike the same chord with the Minnesota Twins manager, but he is clearly on board with utilizing whatever works to get his team going again.

“I don’t know where it came from. I can’t identify it as being the Rally Sausage. It might be the Rally Sausage. Who knows? All I know is we played well enough (Tuesday) to go out and win a nice ballgame and we’ve gotta come back and do it again. I wouldn’t mind seeing that thing again.”

Although he wouldn’t take credit for it’s return, Kyle Farmer was the first to utilize the powers of the rally sausage. His three-run homer created a sizable lead for the Twins in the second inning. It was his fifth of the season, and all of them have come in a much better second half.

The Minnesota Twins have just seventeen games left to play this season. It remains to be seen how long the sausage lasts. If it sparks an 18-game winning streak to cap off the year, no one will ever want it to go away again.
