Leftover Tropical Energy & Blocking High Pressure Could Send Gale Force Winds Into Coastal Parts of the Carolinas

Good afternoon everyone. Not to get ahead of ourselves in light of our approaching storm in the central Gulf Coast, but I am seeing some interesting developments in terms of long range models.

For the past several days, both the GFS and EURO models have stuck to the idea that high pressure will suppress remaining tropical energy in the mid-Mississippi Valley, and force it out via the South Carolina coastline in the form of scattered showers and storms.

The issue we are seeing, is that it has nowhere to go with high pressure protecting the Northeast with its iron grip. With a little bit of circulation and energy left, it wouldn't take much to form a coastal storm that'll be pushed back into the North Carolina and South Carolina.

While we are not sure if this will contain a tropical-element, we do believe a fairly vigorous low pressure could form and approach the Carolina coast as a coastal storm. This would translate into very heavy rain, strong winds, rough surf, beach erosion, and the potential for coastal flooding.

We could also see a severe weather component in interior parts of North Carolina and South Carolina, with the potential for damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning, flooding rains, and the risk for isolated tornadoes. The timeline on this looks to be some time between next Monday and Wednesday if this comes to fruition.
