On Wednesday's episode of " The Joel Klatt Show ," college football analyst Joel Klatt mentioned the Ohio State Buckeyes' impressive play so far this season and attributed the success to new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly.

Through two games on the 2024 campaign, the Buckeyes have totaled 108 points, 15 touchdowns and 1,087 total yards of offense. Albeit against weaker Group of 5 opponents in the Akron Zips and Western Michigan Broncos, the Buckeyes are putting up the offensive numbers many fans hope to see continue when the program's conference play begins in Week 5.

On Joel Klatt's podcast, he marveled at the Buckeyes' offensive efficiency while adding that their offense is doing exactly what it should be to start the year, something a few other top-tier college football teams struggled to accomplish against opponents of similar stature.

"...Ohio State has outscored their opponents 108-6 through two games and they have yet to allow a touchdown," Klatt said. "You might be thinking to yourself, like, 'Joel, they haven't played anybody.' That's fine. That's fine. And you know what? They did exactly what they should do to those teams. Guess who would take that right now? Notre Dame, Oregon, any of those teams, right?"

Klatt continued by mentioning the improvements Chip Kelly has appeared to have made so far, particularly in the run game efficiency, which was a sore spot last season for Ohio State.

"...I'm starting to see this Chip Kelly effect -- 273 rush yards and six touchdowns last week," Klatt added.

"...Again, 273 rush yards. We have not seen that over the last few years. And in fact, I think that's been the one thing that's been hindering Ohio State. More than anything is their inability to really control the game at the line of scrimmage. So now you've got TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins. They're averaging 147 yards on over 7 yards per carry as a duo. So as we check in on Ohio State, you can say they haven't played anybody. But I'm checking in on Chip Kelly. I'm checking in on that run game. And all of a sudden, that looks extremely dangerous. Ohio State looks extremely dangerous."

Klatt finalized his take by concluding he believes Ohio State is a dangerous team regardless of the weaker opponents they have faced so far this season. He added that if the Buckeyes can maintain or even improve on run game efficiency shown so far, they will be extremely difficult to defeat this season.

"If we're checking in on Ohio State two weeks in, they are an elite team and a scary team," Klatt mentioned. "If that run game is reliable and the defense is as good as we think it was going to be, which it's proving that out on the field, it's going to be a really, really hard team to beat."

With Week 3 serving as an open date for the Buckeyes, Ohio State's next matchup will be on Sept. 21 when the Marshall Thundering Herd visit Ohio Stadium. The kickoff time and television network for the game is still to be determined.
