Nobody's gonna get mad if Willie Nelson shows up at their doorstep. The country music legend is one of the few universally beloved people we have left during these divided times. Hell, at this point it might just be him and Dolly Parton. So naturally when Willie needs help, he's got plenty of people willing to give him a hand. We saw it when the IRS
tried to auction off his property during a dispute over his taxes in the early 1990s, when his fans kept buying it at auction and giving it back to Willie - until finally the IRS gave up and just settled with the country singer. And according to his manager Mark Rothbaum, there was another time when Willie needed some help and relied on his star power to get him out of a jam. Now, this one wasn't as serious as being in millions of dollars in debt to the IRS. Instead, Willie was in Baton Rouge for a show, and when he looked out of his hotel window and saw how close he was to the venue, he decided just to walk over for the concert. As Rothbaum recalled : "We were on the twenty-third floor, and we could see the coliseum in a straight line from our windows. Looked like it was just right over there. So we decided we would run to the concert."
But as it turns out, it may not have been such a straight shot after all. After trying to navigate the streets of Baton Rouge, the pair eventually realized that they were lost and had no idea how to get to the venue. And to make matters worse, it was time for Willie to take the stage. The singer had an idea though: "Willie said, ‘I’ll just go up to that house and knock on the door and ask for help.’" Now, obviously times are different, but knocking on a stranger's door at night just sounds like a recipe for disaster. But Willie wasn't worried: "I said, ‘You can’t knock on some stranger’s door.’ He said, ‘I ain’t a stranger. I’m Willie Nelson.'” Fair point. He may be known as the "Redheaded Stranger," but everybody knows Willie Nelson - although even if he showed up at my door, I'd have a hard time believing it was him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieFkYPOawro

That would be awesome to have him at my door. I'd bring him in for some sweet tea and a chat.
