Eagles, Vic Fangio Send Message to Bryce Huff

When the Philadelphia Eagles signed Bryce Huff to a three-year deal in free agency paying him $51 million, the organization hoped he would be the same kind of player that Haason Reddick was two years ago.

It doesn't appear the team is willing to anoint him in that role, though.

Huff finished with the fourth most snaps among edge rushers in Philadelphia's 34-29 win over the Green Bay Packers Friday night. While he recorded just a single tackle, Huff had plenty of rushes that appeared to win before the slippery field caused him to fall.

Even so, the Eagles and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio still believe he needs to do more if he's going to earn his playtime.

"Separate himself from the other guys,” Fangio said when asked what Huff needed to do.

Philadelphia remains high on the undrafted edge rusher from Memphis. His win rates with the New York Jets are still elite and his get-off is among the fastest in the NFL.

While he needs to improve against the run, Huff will be a key part of the Eagles' defense. When Reddick was on the team, his first sack didn't come until his third game with the organization.

Huff's time will come - but he'll need to prove himself in spurts sooner rather than later.
